Altar Servers

(St. John Berchmans, patron of altar servers)
The role of assisting at Masses and other liturgies is a time-honored tradition in our Church. During the winter of their 5th grade year, boys and girls of the parish are invited to become Altar Servers. They receive a complete training in this role. As well, they are instructed in the importance of helping others worship God and Jesus Christ. Altar Servers who are entering 9th grade are invited to become Masters of Ceremonies. This role is similar to the role of Altar Server, but carries more responsibilities. Once trained, the Altar Servers and Masters of Ceremonies are placed on a monthly schedule. For further details, please contact Fr. John Currie at 781-762-6080 x18.

"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for the preeminence is that, as sacred song closely bound to the text, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy." [CSL, #112]

Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion (EMHC)

The source and summit of our life as a people of God are the gifts of Christ’s Body and Blood, the Eucharist, and the community gathered to share in this Eucharist. Over time, the Church has seen the need for Lay Faithful to assist with the distribution of Communion at Masses and other Liturgies. As well, Eucharistic Ministers assist the parish by bringing Communion to people who are unable to attend Mass. Eucharistic Ministry training occurs twice a year; once after Easter and, again, before the beginning of Advent. Prior to being invited to join this ministry, parishioners are asked to speak with Mr Kirk Hartung, Director of Liturgy at 781-762-6080 x26.

The proclamation of the Word of God at Masses and other Liturgies is one of the sources of faith, wisdom and understanding God and Jesus have given to the Church. Because of its importance, the Church takes great care in ensuring that the Spoken Word is proclaimed with dignity and reverence. As a parish, we try our very best to fulfill these expectations. Training for Lectors occurs twice a year; once, after Easter and, again, before the beginning of Advent. Parishioners who are considering becoming Lectors are asked to speak with Mr. Kirk Hartung, Director of Liturgy at 781-762-6080 x26.

Ushers serve at each of the weekend Masses. They help seat parishioners, help receive the collection, distribute bulletins at the end of Mass, and answer any queries or situations that could affect the comfort and concentration of the parishioners at Mass.
