Congratulations on your engagement! To prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage, the Archdiocese of Boston requests that each engaged couple meet with the priest witnessing their marriage during their engagement period, and to participate in a Pre-Cana program. The Archdiocese offers the following purposes for a Pre-Cana program:
1.) to allow you to benefit from the experience and Christian witness of team couples who are living the vocation of marriage,
2.) to offer you some of the common experiences in the marriage relationship:
self-knowledge, communication, marital adjustments, spirituality of marriage and family life, the Church’s teaching on family planning, and finances,
3.) and to assist you in your growing appreciation of marriage as more than a relationship of mutual attraction.
The parish community here at St. Catherine of Siena sponsors a Pre-Cana Program twice each year: once in the Spring and once in the Fall. We have a team of 11 married-couples from the parish who lead this program, and who will generously share with you their own life experiences (You are also able to fulfill this requirement through another program within the Archdiocese). Please call the rectory to obtain registration information or to speak with a priest.
